An artistic touch on the theme of the circus adds color to its walls.
This week, the school welcomed a new work of art to adorn its walls, specifically in the stairwell leading from the main hall to the locker rooms.
The artwork:
The artwork is an oil painting by Chilean artist Esteban Virumbrales, based in Quebec City. A few months ago, he approached the team to express his desire to donate this painting, which he was still working on, to the school. After a few exchanges, the team naturally accepted and acquired this major painting, directly inspired by former graduates whom the artist had known in the past and showcasing the circus in such a beautiful and large format. Several personal references to his artistic approach and his life, as well as several references to the circus and different disciplines, also punctuate his work, so it was only natural that he thought of the school as the best place to bring the work to life once it was finished.
The location was chosen because it was relevant to showcase the work, add an artistic touch to the space, and make it as accessible as possible by placing it in this passageway used by the entire school community as well as the public during evening performances.
