HIGH SCHOOL CIRCUS STUDIES

Step into the circus world

If your child is between the ages of 12 and 17, this program is designed to support both their academic success and provide a deep dive into the world of the circus arts. Along the way, students will build motor, social, psychological and emotional skills through training that’s tailored to their stage of physical and mental development.

Building a strong foundation in a discipline of their choice

The High School Circus Studies program offers a progressive path throughout high school that keeps students motivated and invested in their growth. Your child will emerge from their journey stronger.

From Secondary 1 to 5, students will follow a training program focused on developing strong foundations and perfecting the discipline they’ve chosen, punctuated by regular evaluations to track their progress every step of the way.

Program overview

icône

Secondary 1 and 2
Students focus on building a solid foundation (both physically and artistically) while discovering aerial and balance-based circus disciplines. They also begin to explore body awareness and movement.

An internal evaluation will determine whether students are ready to move on to Secondary 3.

Secondary 3
Students focus on building a solid foundation (both physically and artistically) while discovering solo disciplines such as the Cyr wheel, acrobatic bike and German wheel, along with duo and trio disciplines. This year is all about helping students explore their options and prepare to choose a main specialty in view of the next year.

Secondary 4 and 5
Students focus on developing and refining a primary circus discipline of their choice. They train alongside students in the preparatory program for Higher Education during dedicated sessions of their discipline. Physical conditioning (muscular training and flexibility) as well as basic techniques in both classical and contemporary dance continue to be a key part of the curriculum alongside maintaining solid basic techniques.
