HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAM in CIRCUS ARTS
Training description
The Diplôme d’Études Collégiales (DEC) and the Diplôme d’Études d’Établissement (DEE) are 3-year technical programs designed for people with a good background in circus arts or a related discipline, who wish to enter the professional market. Candidates must be in excellent physical condition, have a good track record of regular training, and have developed a skill in a circus discipline or related activity such as dance, gymnastics, trampoline, martial arts, etc. It also enables future circus artists to develop a self-awareness that enables them to make artistic and technical choices, and to recognize and choose the work contexts that suit them best.
The DEC and DEE Arts du cirque programs at l’école de cirque de Québec are designed to enable students to acquire the qualities essential to the profession of circus artist, such as autonomy, a sense of responsibility and adaptability.
It also enables future circus artists to develop the self-knowledge they need to make artistic and technical choices, and to recognize and choose the work contexts that suit them best.
Training is centered on the student in the program and his/her development, and is both fundamental and progressive.
Circus Arts training places as much emphasis on understanding the circus world as on practicing the multidisciplinary disciplines involved, and does so from an artistic, entrepreneurial and social perspective.
Finally, it enables students to develop as individuals and to become involved in the community in a responsible and creative way.
